Hey, are you coming to the Landscaper Summit on Thursday October 6th? Early bird tickets end tonight at midnight on Friday September 30th. If you catch this after that, there are still advance tickets.
Still on the fence about coming? Check out today's podcast episode to see real video clips from my clients about what they'll be sharing in the What's Working Now contest. Hear directly from our leadership speaker, and find out which landscape softwares are going to be on the panel, so you can interact directly with them and figure out which software is truly best for your landscape company. Grab your tickets at landscapersummit.com, and check out the rest of this podcast to see a reveal of the full agenda for the 2022 Landscaper Summit.
Hey, it's Jack Jostes, and welcome to the Landscaper's Guide. This podcast is all about helping you grow your landscape company with sales, marketing, and leadership ideas. Hey, there's nothing like investing a full day in yourself, in yourself and your business, so that way you can serve your company, your team, and your families at a higher level.
We've got an incredible event on Thursday October 6th. It's virtual. Hey, I love in-person events. Thanks to everyone who came by our booth at ELEVATE. NALP's inaugural conference was awesome, and we're going to do it next year because it was so good.
There's nothing like meeting some of you in person. A lot of people told me that they listen to the podcast or watch these videos. It was great to connect with you. We're into fall. There's a lot of different things going on, and there's nothing quite like a productive virtual event.
Because, hey, at least at this time you don't need to take your shoes off for TSA, unless you fly to your office maybe would be the only exception to that rule. Hey, the cool thing about this event is you can attend virtually. With one ticket bring your entire team.
The Full Agenda For The 2022 Landscaper Summit
Let's dig in to what we're going to do at this summit.
The 2022 Landscaper’s Sales Survey Results!
First, I'm going to reveal the results of the 2022 Landscaper Sales survey. We've got an incredible amount of data that hasn't been released yet.
I'm excited to compile it, analyze it, and share it with you, so you know how you benchmark against your competition, and you'll have some insight about your close rate, how much are other companies spending, how does it vary regionally. We're going to really geek out and give you the best sales and marketing survey data.
My goal is to survey over 100 landscape companies. We had over 55 take it in-person on paper at ELEVATE. We've had about 20 take it digitally. I bet we're going to get a bunch more when people register for the summit. We're on track to reach my goal of 100, but I need your help. Take the survey at landscapersummit.com/survey if you haven't already.
Sales Process Breakout Sessions
Next, we're going to have sales process breakout sessions. Last year we got some good feedback from our commercial landscapers that they wanted some more commercial focused content. We're going to have a sales process workshop led by senior landscape marketing strategist Robert Felton on residential sales. While I'll be hosting a breakout on commercial sales process.
You can come to either of those. If you do both commercial and residential, don't worry, you're going to get a replay of the whole thing.
Join Jack Jostes For The Pizza Lunch
Next we're going to have a pizza lunch. Well, what's a pizza lunch? Well, there's going to be no selling at this event except for at the pizza lunch.
If you're curious about working directly with me and the Ramblin Jackson team on your website, your SEO, your branding, your sales process, I have an optional pizza lunch where I'm going to just be sharing the process that we use to guide our clients to get their results.
I'm going to share some client case studies. I might even have a client in the Zoom with me to answer questions. I will be making a one-time, at that moment only offer to you. If you attend, I will literally ship you Lou Malnati's pizzas. Otherwise, you can take a break, eat your own lunch, go for a walk, or whatever.
Leadership Presentation: Developing Managers Into Leaders
Over the last few years, I've gotten to know the people at McFarlin Stanford. They're really great. I'm excited to invite Jason New and Tommy Cole to share a presentation called Developing Managers Into Leaders. Here's Jason explaining what we're going to gain from that.
Jason New:
Hey Jack. Glad to be here with you today. I wanted to bring up a session that my colleague, Tommy Cole, and I are putting together. We are working with an interactive way to start talking about, and if you're interested learning how to take your managers and grow them into a leadership position, please join us.
Because we're talking through the tactics, the tips, the tricks and the experiences that we've had along the way in growing teams.
Also, with our client base that we've been working on for the past dozen years around what they've been able to do to accomplish how to grow that entry-level manager, or that manager that's been with you for many years on some ways to get them the training and the day-to-day expertise of what they need to become that leader in your organization as it continues to grow, and as you need them to step up in their positions.
Join us at the Landscaper Summit on October 6th. We are glad to join Jack and the Ramblin Jackson team to be able to deliver a session there. Please join Tommy Cole and I as we help you guys grow your managers into leaders. We'll see you then.
What’s Working Now Competition
What's working now in 2022 that you might want to plan for 2023? Well, let's hear directly from three successful landscape company owners. In the What's Working Now contest, three landscape leaders are going to present a story of something that they've done in their business that you can learn to do yourself.
At the end, the audience is going to vote on who was the best. Here are some clips of them sharing what we're going to learn from them.
Casey Hendrix:
Hi. I'm Casey Hendrix, president of Tex-Scapes Nursery and Landscape. I'm going to explain how to create a high school apprenticeship program for your nursery or landscape company. You will learn how to inspire and train the next generation of horticulture leaders in your community.
Kris Nylander:
Hi, this is Kris Nylander with Alpine Gardens. I am the sales manager here. I'm going to be talking about how to charge for the appointment with online scheduling. What we'll learn is what we did to our website, how we transformed our sales process to help all of our designers and project managers better schedule their time, and prequalify leads. Look forward to talking to you.
Turk:
Hi. I'm "Turk" with Cornerstone Partners. I'm looking forward to meeting you on October 6th where we'll be reviewing how to become an added value for your clients, on helping them with writing their request for proposals.
How to go through an RFP correctly, how to give them templates to work off of using our industry language, and even how to rank all of the different bids that they get in, not solely based on price, but also contractor qualifications. Look forward to seeing you then.
Landscape Business Software Panel
What's the best landscape CRM for you? Well, it depends on a lot of things. What services do you offer? Do you offer commercial, are you more residential, design-build, are you maintenance? What season of maturity are you in? Are you just getting started?
Are you already north of a million? Are you north of 10 million? Are you north of 100 million? There are a lot of things that can go into deciding which software is best for you. I've just decided to invite some of the people I know from the top landscape business software companies to share who are they the best fit for, and maybe who are they not the best fit for.
We're going to have a lively online chat with them, where you'll be able to submit questions, and I will direct it to the right people. You can get clearer on which softwares should you research further for your landscape company.
At this year's panel, we're excited to have our friends from Aspire Software, LMN, SingleOps, Attentive, and Service Autopilot participate. I can't wait to talk with them all.
Prizes
Prizes, you got to stay till the end, because we're going to have prizes for the most engaged audience members, the largest team. Yes, one ticket, again, can bring your whole team. The What's Working Now contest, and all kinds of other things.
What Do Guests From Last Year Have To Say?
Here's what guests from previous summits have to say about their experience.
John:
Hi. This is John from bestyard.com. I would recommend to anyone that hasn't been through this process to go through the process. There are several of these that are transformational in the industry, and this is one of those.
Just to have the process and the workbook and then the feedback with other peers in the groups has made it well worth the investment. Everyone should do this.
Monique Allen:
Hey, I'm Monique Allen from the Garden Continuum, Massachusetts. Just finished the Landscaper Sales Summit. This has been completely awesome. I have three killer takeaways ready to up-level my careers page. It is absolutely time to get my local pages done. I've totally been holding off on that.
I'm actually really stoked about doing some indoctrination sales videos. I love the set up. I loved what I learned. The goody bag was awesome. I ate all the beef jerky, I just want you to know. I highly recommend this summit for anyone who wants to up-level their sales.
Tory:
Hey, my name's Tory from Better View Landscapes. Last year I attended the Ramblin Jackson Landscapers Summit. It was a great experience. I learned a lot. Got some really great nuggets about how to improve our sales and marketing process, and had some great takeaways.
I was not a client then, but I am now. In the last year working with Ramblin Jackson, I've really dialed in our clients, our leads, and qualifying our leads better, both through SEO all with our website and some other things.
I'd definitely recommend the Landscaper Summit. It's fantastic. I think there's a lot of great takeaways. I know I had a lot of great nuggets from it. It's not like other webinars where you're sitting there and you don't really have much, so there's not much value.
There are things that you can take and use in your business immediately, or even during, I may be guilty of that, after the summit is done that will improve your business. If you're thinking about it, you should definitely sign up. It is worth the time and expense. All right. Hope you're all well.
