How does your sales close rate stack up to your competition? Does it vary regionally and by service and number of employees? Are you spending less or more than your competition on marketing? Check out today's podcast to see just exactly what you'll learn from the 2022 landscapers sales survey.
Hey everyone, Jack Jostes here and welcome to the Landscaper's Guide. This show is all about helping you grow your snow and landscape company with sales, marketing, and leadership ideas. I invite you to take the 2022 landscaper sales survey right away at landscapersummit.com/survey. There's a link in the show notes where you can take this survey.
There are a lot of great industry reports out there from various magazines and consultant things, but they typically only have one little baby question about sales and marketing. I want to expand that and create the resource in the industry to help you make informed decisions for your landscape company when it comes to sales and marketing. Now you might be thinking Jack, "You are a sales and marketing guy. You have a podcast, you wrote these books, you're kind of a geek. No one else is going to care about this stuff."
Well, I created these questions with the feedback from some of my top clients. I run a monthly Landscape Executive Mastermind from my Wild Frontier clients at Ramblin Jackson. They reviewed the questions with me and let me know, "Yes, we absolutely want to know the answer to this. And have you thought about answering this and let's tweak it this way." It's a really solid list of questions. We've already had many people complete it, and I can't wait to share the results with you.
The survey asks, "What services do you offer?" And we have a quick little checkbox list so you can answer quickly. What's the biggest challenge in your business? My mastermind helped me think of some of the biggest challenges that they're facing. Your annual revenue range, we have brackets in here. How many employees do you have in peak season? Which marketing works best for you? What's your close rate of the proposal sent to sign business? What region are you in? And how much do you budget for marketing each year?
We'll be analyzing the responses and breaking it up to see what we can gather from this? How does it vary regionally? How does it vary with what services you offer? How does it vary with the number of employees?
We'll be packaging all this up into my keynote presentation at this year's 2022 Landscaper's Summit. The Landscaper's Summit is our full day virtual workshop on Thursday, October 6th, focused on sales, marketing, leadership, and technology.
This year I've invited a whole bunch of great other speakers from the industry to join me. In addition to revealing the analysis, the findings of the 2022 landscaper sales survey, at this summit I'll also be doing two sales process workshops. One is going to be focused on commercial sales process that I'll be presenting. Our senior landscape marketing strategist, Robert Felton will be presenting one on residential sales.
And if you're like most of the landscapers who come to my events and talk with me, you're always wondering, "What's the best software for my business? What should I be using?" In my opinion, it's a very personal decision. It depends on what service you're in, what stage of business you're in and what other softwares are you already using? Instead of trying to be the expert on software and everything like that, I thought why not bring some of the top softwares to come and have an open conversation with our audience? We're having the landscape business software panel.
We've got an incredible lineup. We've got people from Aspire software, from LMN, Service Autopilot, SingleOps, and Attentive. They'll be sharing, who are they the best fit for? And who are they maybe not the best fit for? There's going to be a robust conversation in the chat with landscapers from all over the country. Man, last year the interaction with people, that alone was the value of the workshop, was the relationships and the communication that happened there was on fire. I can't wait to see that this year.
And if you've reached the point where you're ready to build a leadership team, you've got your crew leads, in order to grow you need other leaders on your team. We've got Tommy Cole and Jason New from McFarlin Stanford, and they'll be presenting, Develop Your Managers into Leaders, really excited for their content.
A lot of my clients are doing absolutely incredible work in their communities, and I'm excited to share their stories nationally with people from all over the country, in the What's Working Now competition where they're going to present and compete about what they're doing in their business that's working, including one of my clients is going to be presenting about How to Create an Apprenticeship Program With Your Local High School that resulted in him getting a full-time employee. I just love that kind of story.
We're going to have one on commercial sales process, How to Write Your Client's Commercial RFP. We're going to have a lead designer from one of my clients about how they've used sales and marketing to get the out of the sales process and really build them up to increase their close rate. This is not a boring webinar. This is an interactive virtual workshop. We have all kinds of cool prizes, ways of keeping people engaged and I can't wait to see you there.
So listen, if you're still watching or listening to this, I need your help. I need landscapers like you to take the survey to help contribute to creating this resource that will serve the industry. By taking it, you're going to get access to the data first. I'm going to send you a promo code right when you complete it. It only takes a minute or two to complete the survey questions. You get an exclusive discount and promo code for the Summit. But hey, this promo code and the survey close at midnight on Friday, September 30th.
We're going to have just a few days, we're going to compile the data, create the keynote and release it the following Thursday. So take the survey right away at landscapersummit.com/survey. You can find those in the show notes in the blog post in the email that came with this podcast if you're on our list, landscaper summit.com/survey.
I'm Jack Jostes, I can't wait to see your survey results and share this incredible data with you at the summit on October 6th. All right, see you next week in the Landscaper's Guide.
