Don’t Doubt The AI
00:00
Drew Dinkelacker:
Don't doubt the AI. The AI continues to get better and better. When you get the idea, bet big if you have a broken process. AI is just going to break that so fast.
Meet Drew Dinkelacker And Marketing Accelerator
00:13
Jack Jostes:
Hey everyone. Welcome back to the Landscaper's Guide podcast. Today I'm excited to have Drew Dinkelacher, the president of marketingaccelerator.com we are recording this in person together in the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. Ta da. It's closed. Hopefully security doesn't come in Nabis but. But it's really, it's a cool place. I'm here for the Simus symposium and I was in your mastermind years back and we've kept in touch and I figured I'm in town, why not get together and do a podcast.
00:48
Drew Dinkelacker:
I was excited when you called Jack.
00:50
Jack Jostes:
So you know, for folks who listening who haven't heard of you, tell us a little bit about marketing accelerator and what do you do? Sure.
00:58
Drew Dinkelacker:
Started my business as a solopreneur. Still amazing for 25 years now. So I started in September 2001, which was a lousy month to start a business because of 911 and just built slowly after that. Worked with bigger and bigger clients and I'm the chief marketing officer on a fractional basis for a variety of companies. I target companies from 10 million to 100 million and work with the CEO or their marketing leader. I have a roundtable for B2B marketing leaders. But when I first started Jack, the funny thing is I don't have a marketing degree. I was video production background. But I have a good marketing sense and saw a lot of great marketers through those first early jobs in video production.
01:48
Drew Dinkelacker:
And over time what I learned is I thought CEOs knew about marketing and presidents and business leaders knew about marketing, but most of them don't really understand it. And so that's why I wrote my book you can't lead what you don't understand. And that has helped many business leaders have a better understanding of their marketing, the marketing in their business. And the reason that's important is so they can make better decisions. I have always positioned myself as somebody who advises, you know, and I help them make. I help business leaders make better marketing decisions because they understand the decisions that they're making. And I built a business on that.
02:31
Jack Jostes:
I like it. I like it. And as you were saying that you started it in a bad month to start your business. I started mine in 2009 and it was partly because there it was a bad time to get A job. It was a really hard time. I graduated in 08. I studied theater and journalism. Journalism was plan B to playing in a band. I literally learned. I learned marketing playing in a band. Yeah, went for it. We had a manager and then plan B journalism, like the newspapers were going out of business. IPhone came out in 2008 and I realized I had a lot of social media skills from my band that businesses needed. And I just started working. I just kind of accidentally started my business.
03:14
Jack Jostes:
Was it an accident for you or did you know that you wanted to go out and start your own marketing business?
From A Barber Shop Family To Entrepreneurship
03:19
Drew Dinkelacker:
My dad owned his own business. He owned his own barbershop. And I knew I saw the backside of that and the stresses of that and I knew I never wanted to be in business for myself. But series of events got me out and I needed to figure out what I'm doing next. And it was either get a job in. What was the term at the time? It was like it was back in 2000, 2001. It was when I recognized recognition, thumb recognition, all those technologies were coming out. I was either going to get a job in emerging tech doing those things or start my own marketing company. And honestly, it was a faith based decision.
04:04
Jack Jostes:
Really?
04:04
Drew Dinkelacker:
Yes, it was. Absolutely.
04:05
Jack Jostes:
How?
04:07
Drew Dinkelacker:
Well, okay.
04:09
Jack Jostes:
Are you okay sharing this?
04:10
Drew Dinkelacker:
I am absolutely fine sharing this.
04:11
Jack Jostes:
Yeah, absolutely. I'd love to hear it.
Faith And The Decision To Start A Business
04:13
Drew Dinkelacker:
I went to an event called the Emmaus Walk. And so if you know scripture at all, and for those that maybe aren't familiar with it, in the Bible, after Jesus was crucified, he rose three days later and then he appeared to a variety of people. And these two dudes were walking to the road to Emmaus and Jesus appeared to them and they didn't recognize him. They knew who he was, but they didn't recognize him. And basically Jesus says, hey guys, what you talking about? And they're like, haven't you heard? This dude that was dead is, you know, alive. They can't find him, they don't know what's going on. And he appears to them and then they're like, why did we not recognize him? And all that, right? So the road to Emmaus experience is a walk with the Lord.
05:12
Drew Dinkelacker:
So through that walk with the Lord, it was a three day weekend, no devices or anything, men only. And they just took you through a series of exercises. And at the end of it you had to say, you had to share with people and your loved ones have come. What you learned from the weekend and what I learned from the weekend is very simple. Trust Jesus Hard to do. Easy to say. And when I looked at the choice between emerging tech and starting my own business, I thought, it takes a whole heck more trust to start your own business than to get a job in sales. And that was the decision I made. And I told my wife, and she was 100% on board with this. She said, you know, this was. We agreed this was our plan A. And if this was nev.
06:08
Drew Dinkelacker:
If this turned into be, like, not a good plan A, we would change. So been doing this 25 years.
Give People Something They Can Say Yes To
06:16
Jack Jostes:
Wow. So that's for sharing that story. I love that. That's amazing. So you talked about supporting business owners and decisions. And I was. I was thinking on the flight here, I flew in today about a decision that you helped me make, and it was actually a framework for decision making. And it may have just been something you made up on the spot at this mastermind, or it may be part of your coaching framework. So I did want to talk to you on the podcast about it. And the story was Invited to speak at a landscape event by a very prominent author. And I had never really sold something from the stage. I usually just kind of share things, and I share my information, and people find me. They hire Ramblin Jackson at some point.
07:02
Jack Jostes:
But this speaker wanted me to sell something, and he wanted to make a commission from it. He really wanted this. And so he was having me think of all these different things, and I was really confused by what to do and how much to offer. And you said, jack, give him something he can say yes to. Do you remember this?
07:22
Drew Dinkelacker:
I've said those things before because people had told me that. I absolutely remember this whole topic about you doing whether or not to go in, dive into landscaping, because I think it was after you did that event. Oh, yeah. Was when you started to think, maybe I should do this landscaping thing. And all the members of mart were.
07:42
Jack Jostes:
Like, yeah, I was afraid to do it.
07:46
Drew Dinkelacker:
Right.
07:46
Jack Jostes:
I was partly afraid to decide to do it.
07:49
Drew Dinkelacker:
And that is the conundrum that every business owner runs into. Because if I focus on this, then I'm not focusing on these other things that might potentially bring me revenue too.
08:05
Jack Jostes:
Well. And were in a mastermind with a mutual client who wasn't a landscaper, and even he was like, yeah, you should go do that.
08:12
Drew Dinkelacker:
Absolutely, absolutely.
08:14
Jack Jostes:
And so that was a good experience, and that was a good thing that I try and help sometimes my own staff if they're having decision fatigue or we're trying to solve a problem with a client. Maybe there was a Billing issue. Eventually, we need to create something that somebody could say, yeah, thank you, Jack.
08:31
Drew Dinkelacker:
Do you know the difference between wisdom and knowledge?
08:34
Jack Jostes:
Remind us. Go ahead.
08:36
Drew Dinkelacker:
Knowledge is learning from your own mistakes. Wisdom is learning from other people's mistakes. So I had the experience of talking with this VP of sales. I had multiple meetings with him and he finally told me, drew, you need to give me something to say yes to. To answer your question, that was challenge my bit of knowledge that I could pass on to you. That sounded like wisdom, but it was knowledge, learning one's own mistakes. Because that was told to me.
Inside Cincy AI Week
09:11
Jack Jostes:
Well, it was good. It was sage advice and it's worth repeating and unpacking. So you recently went to AI Week in Cincinnati. So you run this mastermind. Is it a mastermind or a round table? What do you.
09:23
Drew Dinkelacker:
It's a round table.
09:24
Jack Jostes:
It's a round table. So what? How is that different?
09:26
Drew Dinkelacker:
I don't know, but that's what I call it.
09:28
Jack Jostes:
So. Well, so you have a round table. Is it mainly business to business?
09:34
Drew Dinkelacker:
B2B. It's B2B. Marketing executives from companies of 10 million to 100 million. And it's a virtual roundtable, but they're predominantly in southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky. One person in Cleveland. And the day that we, you know, we put the calendar out and the day that we're supposed to meet fell on the Wednesday of Cincinnati, AI Week, which is Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. So I said, hey, let's. I'll buy tickets for everybody and let's just meet there because we rarely get together in person. Some people had never actually met in person. So we did this. And Cincinnati has become a Midwestern hub for AI. And there's a lot of really good reasons for that. University of Cincinnati has their whole building, digital futures building.
10:22
Drew Dinkelacker:
I mean, there's just a lot of interesting things that are happening and there's a cooperative nature here in Cincinnati between these various AI groups. And then since the AI Week grew out of some of that all partnering together, so there were well over a thousand people at this three or four venue event over three days. This is the, I believe the third year might be the fourth. Pretty. It's at least the third year for it. And it was phenomenal just for one day. It was kind of more the marketing sales day. But I, I did a post on LinkedIn about just my three takeaways. And they're not really even marketing focused, but they were, they were enlightening to me.
11:12
Jack Jostes:
All right, so were right in the Middle of our interview and security came. They're really tough. No, they. They're closing. They. They pointed out this new garden. Just show them the garden over here. We're going to go over and check out this garden over here and get back into Drew's three takeaways from. What was it?
11:31
Drew Dinkelacker:
Cincy AI week.
11:32
Jack Jostes:
Scentsy AI week. And they're like salamanders. Wait, get those or something. What are those little.
11:39
Drew Dinkelacker:
Yes.
11:42
Jack Jostes:
Fantastic. Okay.
11:43
Drew Dinkelacker:
Animals everywhere at Cincinnati Zoo.
11:45
Jack Jostes:
Thanks, everyone. We had to move spots and for good reason, too. It's. It's starting to drizzle a little bit. So we're under this.
11:52
Drew Dinkelacker:
Cool.
11:53
Jack Jostes:
Looks like solar panels are also the structure for the parking lot. Really beautiful zoo. I'd love to come here sometime.
12:01
Drew Dinkelacker:
This is one of the first. I don't know what the percentage is, but they get a lot of their power from the solar panels. The solar arrays that are here.
12:10
Jack Jostes:
That's amazing.
12:11
Drew Dinkelacker:
And it's. They use that as the shelter over the parking lot. Yeah. It's brilliant.
12:16
Jack Jostes:
I haven't seen that type of multi use out of solar panels.
12:21
Drew Dinkelacker:
Yeah.
12:21
Jack Jostes:
Yeah.
12:22
Drew Dinkelacker:
So were at Cincy AI week. Right, right. And so it's three days. Very interesting day. Should I go back and say how I. With the. With the round table?
12:34
Jack Jostes:
No, I think we've got it. So you brought. You got a round table and you ended up bringing them.
12:39
Drew Dinkelacker:
Brought the team there.
12:40
Jack Jostes:
Cincinnati is this amazing convergence of AI.
12:46
Drew Dinkelacker:
A lot of good things going on, especially responsible AI. Interesting, because what we like to say is the west coast likes to push ahead and break things.
12:59
Jack Jostes:
Okay.
13:00
Drew Dinkelacker:
We're not interested in breaking things because a lot of times when you break things, especially with AI, you can break people. You can tell people the wrong things. So the concept of responsible AI and how you go about it has been being developed here in the Midwest. In Cincinnati.
13:16
Jack Jostes:
Yeah.
13:17
Drew Dinkelacker:
Because the east coast is a little bit more. Let's be in a hurry.
13:19
Jack Jostes:
That seems like a Midwest approach.
13:22
Drew Dinkelacker:
It does.
13:23
Jack Jostes:
As a fellow Midwesterner, though.
13:24
Drew Dinkelacker:
Yes.
13:24
Jack Jostes:
Right. So I have to acknowledge that bias. Partly. Right. It is kind of a Midwest attitude, though.
13:32
Drew Dinkelacker:
It is. And we might lose the race, but we'll be able to sleep at night.
13:35
Jack Jostes:
That's right. Well, so tell it. Let's share the three takeaways.
AI As A Change Management Tool
13:39
Drew Dinkelacker:
Yeah. So the first takeaway I got from these multiple panels. Nobody really. Actually, I should credit somebody for this, but I can't remember who because I saw so many speakers in one day. But point number one is AI is a process and change management tool. We always look at it as like, well, I could do this, I could do that. It makes pretty pictures. It summarizes this document, it analyzes that Excel spreadsheet. It gives me ideas. It does all these different things.
14:10
Jack Jostes:
Right.
14:12
Drew Dinkelacker:
But when you look at the big picture, you can use AI as a change management tool because you are getting your employees to change their processes the way they think. You've probably worked with organizations that had people who were scared of AI. I don't want to mess with it, all those things. So when you look at AI as a change management tool, it's a different perspective about it because it opens doors on how you can make these turns in your business significantly faster than you could have before. It's just like when Covid hit. And now even the most old stodgy businesses like my wife's CPA firm that she works at, they all went zoom. Virtual meetings. They were all hesitant about that. No, we have to do all this stuff in person and all that.
Why AI Breaks Broken Processes Faster
15:07
Drew Dinkelacker:
Well, Covid hits in order to stay in business, you gotta be able to zoom. Well, it's kind of. That was a human change management thing. What's the same thing with AI? You can leverage it that way to bring your team up to speed on where they need to be in the new process. However, here's point number two is if you have broken processes, if you're feeding stuff in there incorrectly or you can't handle capacity, if you have a broken process, AI is just going to break that so fast, it is going to cause bottlenecks. So you have to make sure you have good processes with good data to begin with.
15:50
Jack Jostes:
So I think on this point of processes, one thing that I'm realizing is that people who can communicate processes are really going to have an advantage people, because if you can communicate a process or steps to another person or to an AI, you can get a pretty good outcome. But I've worked with a lot of people who are really good at what they do, but they can't communicate about it. And those are the people who I think struggle with it the most.
16:17
Drew Dinkelacker:
I would agree. It's the people who fill a role that is a cog in the machine and they're really good at being that cog. And. But the. To the point that you're making the people who can see the machine. Yeah, those are the ones who see the opportunity of AI as a change management tool and so many other things.
16:40
Jack Jostes:
Well, and that reminds me. Is it Palantir? Palantir CEO sounds familiar. He was talking about how he's actively hiring people who are neurodivergent for AI focused roles because they come in and they can. As far as seeing the, how the machine operates, sometimes people who are neurodivergent, which is a whole podcast topic even of itself. Yeah, but they're actively hiring people because he's saying that they thrive in AI. And I don't know if you've had it, if you've read about that or heard about that.
17:15
Drew Dinkelacker:
I've not, but from what I understand, that makes total sense. So there's just all these changing opportunities and everybody's concerned about, oh no, what's, you know, what am I losing and that kind of thing.
17:27
Jack Jostes:
Yeah.
17:28
Drew Dinkelacker:
My father in law had his own CPA business and he's 90 now, still kicking, but he retired at 55 when Excel came out. Oh, so before that you had these big sheets of ledgers that you wrote numbers and columns with pencil and you added them up on an adding machine. This is part of the accounting CPA world.
17:56
Jack Jostes:
Yeah.
17:56
Drew Dinkelacker:
And then Excel comes out.
17:58
Jack Jostes:
Right.
17:59
Drew Dinkelacker:
And my father in law was not a computer person and he saw you can hit a few buttons and it tallies all those numbers and it does this analysis. He retired.
18:11
Jack Jostes:
He just retired.
18:12
Drew Dinkelacker:
He just retired.
18:12
Jack Jostes:
And he's pretty young to retire. 55.
18:15
Drew Dinkelacker:
Yeah, it was a great time for him to do it and he's.
18:17
Jack Jostes:
Done well and, but he could.
18:19
Drew Dinkelacker:
Yes, yes.
18:19
Jack Jostes:
And that's good.
18:20
Drew Dinkelacker:
But the point being is that there were jobs lost in accounting because of Excel. Now, 50 years later, was Excel a good thing or a bad thing? Overall, it was a pretty good thing. And it's still a pretty good. Yeah, you know, I mean, but it caused this. So it's kind of the same thing, I think, with AI. Yes, jobs are going to be replaced and you're going to have to come up with a different skill set. If you've been doing this one cog thing and a company had 10 people doing that one cog, you probably only need one person now monitoring the AI cog that's doing that.
18:58
Jack Jostes:
Yeah.
Don’t Doubt The Technology
18:59
Drew Dinkelacker:
You know, and just making sure it's following what you need done. Now the third takeaway was, what was it all of a sudden? You know, every gray hair is a lost memory. I have the third one. Oh, oh, I should remember this one. We all know AI hallucinates. Everything we get comes with a disclaimer, you know, any result. Okay, fine. The takeaway is when you're looking at how you're going to leverage AI as A change management tool or just automating a work process or however, don't doubt the AI. The AI continues to get better and better. Tell me a human that doesn't have flaws right? Today, the challenge with the whole AI thing is not the technology. It's everything surrounding the technology is the takeaway idea.
20:02
Jack Jostes:
What do you mean?
20:03
Drew Dinkelacker:
The human interfacing, the emotions that are tied to it, the resistance to it, the flawed workflows, all these things. You think AI is the silver bullet that's going to create money for you? No, it's not. But the tech is going to work. The tech will work for you and it's only going to get better. I mean, you remember early AI images of a person and the nose is sticking over here and they got six.
20:29
Jack Jostes:
Fingers and then you're like, hey, that doesn't happen anymore. No, now the AI images are fantastic. Yeah, it does get better. One, one funny thing I found was. Do you use Claude much?
20:39
Drew Dinkelacker:
Not really. I am a total copilot, dude.
20:41
Jack Jostes:
Oh, okay. I actually just used Copilot for the first time. I was in Zapier and in Zapier they have Copilot built into it and I was using it and I was like, how do I do this? And it gave me step by step instructions and was analyzing what I was doing in Zapier. But Claude I find writes really well. But a lot of what I do is event marketing where like you need to be at this location at this time and write an email and like, I'll be like, all right, create a document that has all of these in it and put email2 to come out the Tuesday before the event. And Claude still gets so confused about like what day it is. Like you would think that it could access a calendar and. No, but it just like hallucinates the wrong date.
21:29
Drew Dinkelacker:
So this is one of the positions of Microsoft and Copilot is that when you have Copilot embedded in your Microsoft world, if you live in the Microsoft world, then it is going to your world first of information before it goes outside of your world.
21:49
Jack Jostes:
I like to, I, I get what you're saying. That was my experience with Zapier and it was very, it was looking at what I was doing and interpreting it. And I liked that because it was just built into it. A lot of times I have an AI tool open and I have another software open and I'm having to tell it a lot about what's going on. But with Copilot, it just was, it's.
22:12
Drew Dinkelacker:
Embedded and that's the point of difference right now. And of course, Gemini and Google are going to work toward that if you're living in the Google world.
22:19
Jack Jostes:
So if you're in drive or anything like that, or. I used Gemini on this trip. I wanted to find a cigar lounge that was open late. I actually, I verbally told it a lot of things. I was like, I want to find a cigar lounge that's open late. I want to find a gym that has a sauna and cold plunge, and I want to know where the nearest grocery store is. Here's the address where I'm staying. And it was just. I found Gemini to be the best for that because it accesses Google Maps. Sure. And Google Maps is the best source of all of those things.
Pick Your AI And Run With It
22:55
Drew Dinkelacker:
No doubt about that. Finding locations. So here is a bonus point. I didn't get this at Cincinnati AI Week, but it made so much sense to me. Maybe because it confirmed that I decided to just live in the Microsoft world, even though people were dissing Copilot left and right. And at a recent AI meeting where I was at, someone was saying how, you know, I used to kind of hate Copilot, but I like it now and then other people are like, going, yeah, that was my experience, too.
23:29
Jack Jostes:
Yeah.
23:29
Drew Dinkelacker:
And so the takeaway was quit wasting time bouncing around trying to figure out which AI is best for something. And that all the a highs are so much better than anything that existed two years ago.
23:50
Jack Jostes:
Oh, yeah.
23:51
Drew Dinkelacker:
And you'll get those. So we spent a lot of time going, is Claude better than, you know, chatgpt, than Gemini, than co? You know, Copilot's never in those discussions, but I understand Copilot and it understands me. And so I have. I just go there. I don't go anyplace else. And that saves me some time. And, you know, I know there's, you know, I'm not. I'm some of the. Some of the AI groups that I sit in on, they're pretty nerdy. I'm not that nerdy. I am application productive. I need to get this done. I am not a nerd. So the nerds love to bounce around which one is better for this and that and this and that. I waste no time on that. I just use Copilot. Move ahead, pick your AI and run with it.
24:42
Jack Jostes:
I like that. I like that. I do. I do pick different tools for different things. It is.
24:51
Drew Dinkelacker:
It is.
24:51
Jack Jostes:
And. And partly it's because I like to understand how they work and how a Microsoft user looking for A landscape company might have a different experience from a. Somebody who's way down the Google rabbit hole or chatgpt or whatever.
25:10
Drew Dinkelacker:
The point I would make on that is your landscaping clients don't have time to do that.
25:17
Jack Jostes:
Right.
25:17
Drew Dinkelacker:
Bounce around to different things. You being a technology person, well, that's fine, that's great and that's awesome. And then you can speak to it. But you wouldn't want your clients to duplicate that effort because they're not operating at the same level you are.
25:33
Jack Jostes:
Some of them are though. That's cooler. It is. Cool. So there's probably the 80, 20 rule.
25:40
Drew Dinkelacker:
Yeah.
25:40
Jack Jostes:
A lot of 80% of people are like just still dabbling with chat GPT. Maybe they're using Copilot. I, I know Maybe the top 5% of my clients though have, they're using Claude Cowork. They've got all these different integrations and I, I'm seeing a lot of landscape companies moving really fast with AI. Yeah. So to your point. Yes, some of them are, but I think way more of them are than people would think. And the reason why partly is, I think it's partly a generational thing. Yeah. Because there's a lot of my clients are second generation owners and they're in their 40s and they're, and they've, they're taking over a business that was started in the 70s and they're kind of tech forward. They're like, how do I. Like even before AI, they were like, how do I.
26:32
Jack Jostes:
To the, you know, this ledger that you're talking about, the paper ledger. We've, we've had, literally had people. I had a client, dude, bought a multimillion dollar landscape company and the business was really a woman named Sally who did all of the sales and had a paper notebook that she took home with her. I'm not kidding. And their QuickBooks were a mess. And part of what this guy needed to do was get Sally out of there. He needed to extract Sally in her notebook into a digital system. So a little bit of a tangent, but no, it's true.
27:04
Drew Dinkelacker:
But Jeremy, what you're talking about is the practical application of. We can talk about all this cool stuff about technology moving us forward, but you got to get back to the reality of where the business is today. And not everybody's at the same spot and not everybody's ready to embrace AI. And this gets back to the work processes. If your work processes are bad, AI is not going to help you. You got to clean that stuff up before AI can help You.
Practical AI Advice For Landscape Business Owners
27:30
Jack Jostes:
Well, Drew, we've talked about a lot. We started with your faith story, which was cool, and I didn't know that was how that led you to your business. We also talked about decision fatigue, and some folks might be listening, and they're like, wow, Drew and Jack are talking about a lot. Let's try and leave people with something they could go do. What would you. If we thought about our landscape audience, owners of landscape snow companies, where would you guide them in this theme of AI?
27:59
Drew Dinkelacker:
In this theme of AI, I would make sure. 1. If you. If you haven't had an AI expert or consultant come in and look at your organization and see where things can improve, that would be, like, the first thing I would do. If you've already done that's good. One of the. I'm doing a new podcast called Bullseyes and Blind Spots.
28:31
Jack Jostes:
Oh, nice.
When You Get The Idea, Bet Big
28:32
Drew Dinkelacker:
And it's a next generation of three minutes. Three insights in three minutes. And with Bullseyes and Blind Spots, I'm interviewing these CEOs, and one of the CEOs, when he talked, I'm asking, where did you hit the bullseye? And he said, when you get the idea, bet big. If you have confidence in that idea, bet big, do it. And that's how you. And you probably have some clients like that, and you have other clients who are like, well, I don't know. I want to take an incremental step. These are not incremental times.
29:10
Jack Jostes:
I love this idea. I'm thinking one, you guys helped me make a Bullseye decision to focus on the landscape industry. And I went all in. I rebranded. I went rebranded everything. I started this podcast, Landscaper. This isn't the small business guide. This is the landscapers guide. And sometimes I interview people outside of the landscape industry, but it's cool because you bring in a new perspective. But I bet big on it. And it did pay off.
29:35
Drew Dinkelacker:
Yeah.
29:35
Jack Jostes:
And if I. Because I had been kind of like, I had been half in on the idea for a couple of years, I was like, home services and landscaping, and it was, like, watered down. It was boring. And people would look at it. They're like, yeah, I don't know. And then I was like, Ramblin Jackson, the snow and landscape marketing agency. So thanks for helping me bet big on that one.
29:57
Drew Dinkelacker:
It's great. It was part of the team effort. Everybody was on board with that. It's like you were the last one to come on board. It felt like we could see you were thinking about it, and of course, it's your decision to make. And this is why it's helpful to have people around you that understand your business, understand you, and then can just share with you thoughts with nothing but your best interest in mind. You know, they're not. None of these people are trying to sell you anything.
30:24
Jack Jostes:
No. You know, and no one of them had a go kart business. Yeah, right. That guy had a big go kart. Yeah. It was great. So his business. So it was in masterminds like that I made. I've also become more decisive, I think as a result of those experiences. Yeah. But betting big, for sure. I like that. That's a good takeaway. So for folks listening who enjoyed hearing you today, where can we learn about your book? You've got a new podcast. You've got a cool. You're definitely somebody to follow on LinkedIn because you make.
30:53
Drew Dinkelacker:
That's where I post all that good stuff.
30:54
Jack Jostes:
That's where you post a lot of good stuff. So I'll put a link to your LinkedIn. Where else should people look you up?
30:59
Drew Dinkelacker:
So my latest fun thing is the website is Bullseyes and Blind Spots.
31:08
Jack Jostes:
Okay.
31:08
Drew Dinkelacker:
You know, so that's a n d. Bullseyesandblind spots.com. It's a podcast. It's a. I have an accelerated guide called Bullseyes and blind spots for CEOs that are in growth minded CEOs and what holds them back? Where are your blind spots? And then with that download, there's also a link to. To a Bullseyes and blind spot DIY analysis.

31:52
Drew Dinkelacker:
Well, it depends. Biaggio's is a great place if you like pasta. There is a interesting restaurant, kind of a bar restaurant, which is in the location where my dad's barber shop used to be.
32:05
Jack Jostes:
I want to go there. I want to see that.
32:06
Drew Dinkelacker:
And then there's a Mexican place.
32:08
Jack Jostes:
Let's go to the second place.
32:09
Drew Dinkelacker:
All right. I forget the name of it, but okay, I know where it is, so.
32:12
Jack Jostes:
We'll get you there. Yeah, that sounds cool.
32:14
Drew Dinkelacker:
Cool.
32:14
Jack Jostes:
All right. Now you got some Cincinnati food recommendations too?
32:18
Drew Dinkelacker:
Well, you got to do Skyline Chili. You can't come to Cincinnati and not have Skyline chili.
32:24
Jack Jostes:
Oh, well, have you ever had Skyline? No, but have you been?
32:26
Drew Dinkelacker:
Well, there's A skyline.
32:27
Jack Jostes:
Okay.
32:27
Drew Dinkelacker:
We could go to Skyline, too, if you wanted.
32:29
Jack Jostes:
We might need to do that because. Have you been to Milwaukee, Wisconsin?
32:32
Drew Dinkelacker:
I have not.
32:33
Jack Jostes:
Have you had. You haven't had real chili then? Well, there's.
32:37
Drew Dinkelacker:
Understand, I've never had real Wisconsin.
32:39
Jack Jostes:
No, no, no.
32:40
Drew Dinkelacker:
But I have brand Spotted Cow.
32:42
Jack Jostes:
Okay. Spotted Cow.
32:43
Drew Dinkelacker:
You can only get Wisconsin friend.
32:45
Jack Jostes:
Got it. Who brings it to me. So next time you're in Milwaukee, there's a restaurant called Real Chili. Real. And it's open late. It's kind of a rowdy joint. Okay. And it's real Chili. Okay, so what was the chili place here?
32:57
Drew Dinkelacker:
There's Skyline Chili.
32:59
Jack Jostes:
I want to try that. Is it red chili? Is it like. No, no. What kind of chili is this?
33:03
Drew Dinkelacker:
It's. It actually has kind of a Greek background to it, and it's served over spaghetti with beans. It has cinnamon and actually has chocolate in it, too.
33:15
Jack Jostes:
I used to host a chili cook off, and I've had tons of different types of chili. Haven't had that kind.
33:20
Drew Dinkelacker:
Well, they call it Cincinnati chili. This style is Cincinnati Chili. There's Montgomery in ribs. That great ribs made famous. Bob Hope's favorite. Are you so young that you don't know who Bob Hope. Do you know who Bob Hope is?
33:34
Jack Jostes:
Bob Hope. I can't. I can't remember. He was.
33:37
Drew Dinkelacker:
He was the George Clooney of the. The 50s and 60s. He went. I mean, everybody in the world knew.
33:46
Jack Jostes:
I know the name, but I can't. I can't place it.
33:48
Drew Dinkelacker:
Right, right. And he was a comedian, too. But he would have Montgomery and Ribs shipped to his place out in California. Whatever. That was a big deal. Grater's ice Cream, which we can do tonight, too, because it's all in the Gaslight District. Skyline Graters, the. My dad's Barber Shop, and that restaurant where my dad's barbershop was. All is within walking distance.
34:09
Jack Jostes:
Perfect. All right, well, Drew, we gotta go. It's starting to drizzle. Thanks.
34:13
Drew Dinkelacker:
I'm getting hungry.
34:14
Jack Jostes:
All right, bye.
